Stopping and Eliminating Fax Spam

 Stopping and Eliminating Fax Spam

FAX machines were originally introduced in the early 1980s. They were a fantastic new toy. It would be the end of the post office. At the time, it was just a really cool technology.

People started emailing joke lists around because they were cool and not much business was being done with them yet. This was the first kind of electronic spam. I made a humorous list and stuck my business card in the center of the page. People would forward them to their contacts. They handled my advertising. This is the original version of a popular video.

Businesses soon began to send unsolicited faxes marketing their services. That was a concern since each fax was printed. And the toner and paper were also pricey. As a result, the bean counters were very concerned.

Nowadays, your faxes are likely to come digitally, generally in the form of an e-mail. While there is still an issue, they no longer print automatically.

Many firms continue to utilize faxing. It is regarded as a'safe' method of document transmission because it does not include malware. A document delivered over a regular phone connection from one fax machine' to another fax machine' is not typically hackable. It is not stored on a web server or in an e-mail account. There is no electronic copy left once it has been sent and printed. This antiquated technology, however, has significant drawbacks. We can't truly stop fax spam like we can e-mail spam. There isn't a spam filter.

Because your faxes arrive via email from the fax service provider, you cannot ban the firm, or all faxes will arrive in your inbox.

One method we use to combat fax spam is to restrict all communications from about 35 countries. (Russia, China, North Korea, and so forth.) We also block specific numbers that have more traffic than intended. But that is an imprecise science.

If your fax number is completely spammed, the only practical solution is to acquire a new one. Of course, that would be, at best, inconvenient. Here's the best solution.

Create a new email and fax account. You should run both numbers for a few months. During that period, you begin the migration, website and literature upgrades, and customer and supplier alerts.

Then you may erase the incorrect fax number. Yes, it's a lot of effort, but your productivity will improve with time. This occurs frequently.

We observe a number of variations in the conventional fax machine usage in our offices. There are several applications for combination printer, scanner, and fax equipment. It's often just easier to send a fax than it is to scan, file, and e-mail a little document. Furthermore, many medical and government offices only accept faxes. As a result, faxing will be around for a while. When receiving faxes, however, it is always preferable to obtain a clean PDF copy of the document. It may be renamed, saved, and easily attached to an email or uploaded link as needed.
