The most important new feature of the largest Windows 11 update this year

The most important new feature of the largest Windows 11 update this year.

During the conference held in New York City on September 21, Microsoft revealed the largest upgrade this year for Windows 11. Contrary to expectations, this was not the expected annual update “23H2 Update,” but rather one of the “Moments” updates that are part of the cumulative updates to the system. According to an official publication from the company, the annual 23H2 update is in the final stages of testing and will arrive later this year as a small update that brings a few other features.

In any case, the cumulative update Moment released today by Microsoft carries a huge list of improvements to enhance stability at the performance level, as well as, of course, completely new features to significantly improve the experience of use and make it more intelligent, with a focus on supporting artificial intelligence deeper in Windows 11. So if you're interested, let's discuss below the strongest of these features and the upgrades and adjustments you can enjoy now if you're a Windows 11 customer.

New Windows 11 upgrade features

Cumulative Windows 11 is now available as an optional update carrying the number KB5030310 via Windows Update. So all you have to do is go to Windows Update in the Settings program and click on Check for updates. If the update does not show, make sure that the "Get the latest updates as soon as they're available" option is activated and that updates are again accessible. Note that at present, Microsoft is progressively modernizing public machinery with the current version of Windows 11 (the stable version), which will be made available to all more broadly next November. With that in mind, let's start evaluating the features.

Artificial Intelligence Assistant, Windows Cobalt

Microsoft is taking advantage of its cooperation with OpenAI, which specializes in artificial intelligence research and is also responsible for the development of the renowned ChatGPT robot. Since the beginning of this year, it has announced the integration of artificial intelligence techniques into practically all of its products, including the Bing search engine, Edge browser, and Ovis software, and even introduced whole new tools, such as Bing Image Creator. In general, when the position debuted on Windows, the United States corporation announced an A.I. assistant named "Windows Copilot" to replace Cortana's default assistant in Windows 11.

Windows Cobalt aims to change the way users interact with Windows, which is based on the OpenAI GPT-4 obstetric model, which is the same as that used in Bing Chat and ChatGPT, where its idea is essentially to consolidate BingChat and Windows 11 to perform various tasks quickly and easily, integrating in some way Windows to implement any kind of procedure, and of course it can be used to ask general questions and obtain an answer directly from the desktop without opening a web browser.

According to Microsoft at the conference, Windows Copilot can undertake actions such as modifying Windows settings such as the Focus Mode status to facilitate the completion of tasks or the night mode, as well as the ability to arrange open windows, as well as the ability to use it to help you write new content within any application or open program or summarize a specific text, and can send him a picture and ask him to delete background, make changes, or propose a description, and so on. Microsoft will undoubtedly enhance Windows Copilot regularly so that it may move farther into the system and engage with the user's day-to-day duties to operate on its behalf.

With regard to the mode of usage, it will not be significantly different from Bing Chat. You may start running it from the "Copilot" icon on the taskbar, right next to the search field, where you can hit it to call the new AI assistant, or you can do the same with Win+C. Finally, a window will appear on the right side of the screen containing proposed actions that can be implemented with one pressure, as well as a field downstairs to start a conversation session in which you can choose a chat pattern, whether "balanced" to obtain more neutral, "creative" responses for more fun and imaginary, or "precise" responses to generate clear and more precise answers. Generally speaking, Windows Copilot may be considered a better and more mature version of Cortana's virtual assistant, owing to the powerful artificial intelligence algorithms on which it is built.

2. Improved interface for file management (File Explorer)

This new version provides major enhancements to the virtual File Explorer file management tool on Windows 11. This can be seen from the initial glance at the tool window, and Microsoft has revitalized the interface design to be more aligned with the new design aspects of Windows 11. Starting with the top-line bar, it became more contemporary, with round edges and a crisper line. Microsoft has also modified the "Details" on the right-hand side (if you activate it with Alt+Shift+P) in design terms. It also gives additional relevant data about any file you may identify. In addition, the File Explorer tool will utilize artificial intelligence to arrange files in the Home area so that a number of recommended files will be presented depending on your use.

Finally, the File Explorer tool contains a new section called Gallery, which makes it easier to browse all the images stored locally on hard disk or in the cloud (on OneDrive) than to press "Gallery" on the side list and will show you File Explorer all your images arranged by date with an appropriate timeline to move the images better. Hypothetically, the program will display saved photographs only on OneDrive and Picture, but you may add other folders if you store the images on other hard disks or laptops.

3. Support of RAR and 7Z versions of compressed files

One of the most noticeable improvements in the Windows 11 upgrade today is the support for more compressed file types. If you are dealing with numerous compressed files, WinRAR or 7-Zip are typically used as the most popular to identify compressed files in the RAR and 7z versions, but when Windows 11 has been upgraded to the final version, you will be able to dispense with them once and for all. Microsoft has introduced basic support for compressed file formats that are frequently disseminated among users, including TAR, 7Z, RAR, GZ, and many more, and thus may rely on the Windows-based file-cracking program to deal with files that belong to any of these versions.

4. Homepage of the Settings program

The new Windows 11 update introduces another area in the application of the settings named "Home" to enable access to the Windows 11 basic settings, where this section acts as the home page for users at the opening of the Settings. The section includes a quick review of the condition of your computer and the key computer management settings, which are separated into "dynamic cards," the contents of which change according to your interests and the settings to which you regularly go. For example, a suggested settings card comprises proposed settings that may need to be modified immediately, while a customization card allows you to update the rear view or switch between brightness and your parents with a button click, and so on. You can take swift action immediately in this area. What differentiates Home more is that it's more than simply a section that targets certain settings; it grows its content and learns from the way you use a computer thanks to integrated artificial intelligence.

5. Mandatory closure of programs

Usually, when we notice a computer problem associated with a particular program, such as failure to respond to the program and suddenly stop it from working or cheering up the program, and others, the first step we take is to compulsively close this program using the Task Manager tool. After opening the tool, we identify the program's name from the list and close it down. Fortunately, this method will be easier when Windows 11 has been updated for the final release, so all it takes is to click Klick right on the application icon from the taskbar and then pick "End task" from the options. This new option serves as a shortcut to the End task button already present in Task Manager, and so, once clicked on, the application will be forced to end without having to open the tool.

6. Sound level control for each application or program

The sound volume of each program at Windows 11 may already be set via the window Volume Mixer, which is reached by the Settings at Windows 11. However, after the installation of the new update to Windows 11, this was facilitated by the integration of the sound control module for each application or program into the QuickSettings window, so all the user needs to do is press the QuickSetting area in the taskbar and then click on the voice-level icon at the end of the sound-level bar to move to the sound output board. Hence, the sound volume may be controlled separately for each program or application. Previously, users had to go to the settings or use an extra software called EarTrumpet to accomplish the job, so it's a great addition.

7. Abolition of the integration of windows into the taskbar (status of never combined)

Two years after Windows 11, this huge update of Windows 11 finally returns one of the most desired taskbar features: the status of the eradication of window mergers, or Never Combined. Since Windows 7, open windows are supposedly integrated into the icon of each program on the taskbar. For example, if there are five open windows for the Notepad tool, they will appear as layers within the Notepad icon on the taskbar and need to pass the mouse index on the icon to select the window that is required to be displayed on the screen.

Users can modify this strategy and enable the Never Merged position so that each window of the program is presented on the taskbar independently instead of being merged into a single icon. Windows 11 is checking out this function in its present edition, but Microsoft is returning it with Windows 11 updated today, where customers who like this technique may enable it by navigating to the Personalization Section in the Settings program and hitting Taskbar and then Taskbar behaviors.

8. Control of RGB lights from direct settings

One of the strongest and most important features of the new modernization of Windows 11 is that it will not need to rely on third-party applications provided by computer software manufacturers equipped with RGB lighting, such as mouse, kebward, mousebad, etc.; it can now control the color of lighting, the rate of glowing, the influence it wants, and other settings directly through the Settings application after going to the Personalization Section, where this feature is called Dynamic Lighting, and therefore there is no need to stabilize the programs offered by companies such as Luigi Tick, Razor, HyperX, MSI, and Isos.

It should be noted that the dynamic lighting function does not operate with all the accessories or terminals. As of today, most of the terminals that function with Dynamic Lightning include several diamonds and keyboards from Razer, Acer, ASUS, HP, HyperX, and Logitech, while Microsoft claims that additional devices will soon join.

9. Task Manager's search for tasks

The task management tool (task management) in Windows 11 got significant modifications during the 2022 updates, the most noteworthy of which is the practically universal redesign of the user interface to be more compatible with Windows 11. Microsoft did not, however, cease improving the tool with new features, like the Filter Processes function, which is part of the enhancements that add Windows 11 to today.

This feature allows users to filter all the functions and processes offered to easily find those with a specific name or a specific program. Through a search tape shown at the top of the window, the initials of the software or process name can be written so that the corresponding functions are immediately presented, whether in the Processes Section, Details, or other sections within the tool. This benefit is beneficial if you want to monitor the performance of a certain activity or collection of activities and desire to take necessary action towards them.

10. Extraction of text from photos

With this new version, Microsoft has launched a fresh iteration of the popular Snipping Tool to capture screen footage that gives relatively new tasks such as the ability to video-screen and make edits to recorded films without external tools. Perhaps the most important new features of this edition are Text Actions, which are intended to assist rapid access to the text from a video screen shot, a piece of the PDF file, or any picture containing a generic text, which you can quickly extract by pressing a button. The awesome thing here is that the benefit does its work without having to connect to the Internet, supports practically all languages, including Arabic, and does not require pre-positioning. We have already tried this benefit and prepared a brief assessment of it and how to operationalize it in a separate piece.

11. Artificial intelligence image generation with the Paint tool

Microsoft has modified several elements of Paint's tool through frequent upgrades of Windows 11, where it has new duties as well as a modern appearance of the interface. In this latest release, Windows 11, Microsoft revealed that it has incorporated a new function in Paint Creator, merely a duplicate of the Bing Image Creator, to produce images using artificial intelligence. Directly from inside the painter's device, you can call Paint Correator and write a brief description of the image, and then press Create to get four images based on the text you entered. Each image has a different format but contains the same idea required; just choose what you want, and the image will be added within the tool to make adjustments.

The Paint program has also become supportive of the capability of layers to isolate photo parts from each other, exactly as Photoshop and other renowned photo editing applications have. Together, the program can now be used to remove the background from the photograph quickly, as detailed in a previous article.
